Spanish Strawberry Eye pigeons ( Ojo de Fresa )

It was introduced to Spain during Arab domination (Centuries VIII -XV) from Africa. For many centuries it was a race with many followers, being known in Spain as " FLAMENQUILLA " and in the Catalan-speaking countries as " strawberry Eye " name that has endured to this day. Since Spain was taken to other countries in Europe, being known in Italy as " polacca di Spagna" and as " the Duchessa polacca Maria Amalia " ( 1795 ) . In France they were imported by Boitard and Corbie (1800 ) , too, according Giachetti (1894 ) were brought to the court of Bavaria , Vienna and elsewhere. In Spain it was described by authors as Cavanilles ( 1799 ) and Rojas Clemente ( 1800 )
